Dominique O’Rourke is a twice-elected city councillor, entrepreneur and volunteer who is ready to continue delivering for her community as the Liberal candidate for Guelph.
Dominique’s career spans 25 years as a public and private sector leader. Her work has led her to advise major private, public and non-profit organizations, including The Co-operators Group, Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Index of Wellbeing, Special Olympics Ontario and Agricorp. As a proud Franco-Ontarian, she founded Réseau-Franco Guelph and previously served as Vice-Chair of Groupe Média TFO. She was recognized as a 2018 Woman of Distinction, served on the International Women’s Day and Women of Distinction committees for years, and for a decade on the board of the Guelph Community Foundation. She is currently an active Rotarian and a 10-year member of 100 Women Who Care.
As a City Councillor for Ward 6, Dominique has been an advocate for housing and supports for the homeless; introduced audit and accountability measures; and improved communications and representation for her constituents. She pushed for construction of the South End Rec Centre and increased support for the city’s designated long-term care home - including 29 new long-term care beds. She also passed a unanimous motion to declare intimate partner violence an epidemic. As chair of the Infrastructure, Development and Environment committee, Dominique is a champion of economic development.
For 27 years, Dominique has been dedicated to enhancing quality of life in Guelph. Now, she is ready to be the next Member of Parliament for Guelph where she will work with the Liberal team and across party lines to build more homes, lower the cost of living for Canadians, take action on climate change, and make sure everyone in the community has a fair chance to succeed.
